Get to Know Robert

Based out of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert is a visual designer, educator, and adjudicator with over a decade of experience working in the marching arts. He has collaborated with numerous programs, many of which have achieved notable success such as winning state championship titles and earning caption awards for high visual and high general effect.

Robert started his drum corps career marching in the DCA corps Cadets2 in 2013. He went on to march with The Cadets in 2014 and 2015. Immediately following his age-out, Robert started teaching in the activity and worked for various groups including The Oregon Crusaders, Music City, and Fusion “Core”. Most recently, Robert worked as the Drill Designer and Visual Caption head for The Academy Drum and Bugle corps. 2027 will be Robert’s first summer away from drum corps since 2013 and he is looking forward to the extra time at home.

During the winter season, Robert is the drill designer for both Breakthrough A and Open, and acts as the visual caption lead for the Open group. In the fall, he is the visual caption lead for the Mountain Ridge High School “Pride of the West” and works with various schools throughout the valley as a visual clinician. Robert also holds a Masters of Music from Arizona State University in Brass Pedagogy, and maintains a small studio of private low brass students.
