Get to Know Robert

Based out of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert is a visual designer, educator, clinician, and adjudicator with over a decade of experience in the marching arts. He has collaborated with numerous programs, many of which have achieved notable success such as winning state championship titles and earning caption awards for high visual and high general effect.

Robert is one of the Visual Co-Caption Heads and the Assistant Drill Designer at The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. He has worked with The Academy since 2020, being promoted to Co-Caption Head in 2024, and being added to the design staff as Assistant Drill Designer in the 2025. Robert started his drum corps career marching in the DCA corps Cadets2 in 2013 and later marched with The Cadets in 2014 and 2015. Immediately following his age-out, Robert started teaching in the activity and worked for various groups including The Oregon Crusaders, Music City, and Fusion “Core”.

During the winter season, Robert is the visual caption lead for Breakthrough Indoor’s Open Class ensemble, as well as the drill designer for Breakthrough A. In the fall, Robert is the visual caption lead for the Mountain Ridge High School “Pride of the West” and works with various schools throughout the valley as a visual clinician.
